What to wear, for this occasion, in this weather.
Ornelle answers one question: what should I wear to this? You say who the outfit is for, what the occasion is, where it is held and how long you will be there. It reads the weather for that day, and writes a brief — a colour plan piece by piece, the garment, the jewellery, the hair, the shoes — with the reasoning for each.
The advice comes from written rules rather than a model: the same answers always produce the same outfit, and every choice can be traced to the occasion, the formality it asks for, the light in the room, or the temperature outside. Nothing is generated in a cloud, because nothing needs to be.
What it does
The brief
Every piece gets a named shade rather than a palette to interpret, chosen against the formality the occasion asks for, the light it is held in, and the season. One focal point per look — the rest is built to sit under it.
The weather
The forecast is fetched for the date you are dressing for, and the venue bends it before the rules see it — an air-conditioned hall in July is not July. An event beyond the forecast's reach is built from what those dates have been like in past years, and says so, then rebuilds itself once the forecast arrives.
Your own shade
Skin tone is an answer the app asks for and then actually uses: a colour has to hold its own against the person wearing it, so shades that would disappear are ruled out rather than recommended and hoped for.
Later, and after
Save an outfit for a dated event and it improves as the day approaches. Score what you actually chose against the occasion and see where it lands. Everything worn collects in a lookbook, and a planned event joins it once its date has passed.
Pricing
The free tier gives four outfits, one planned event, and one score a month, and the count resets on its own. Asking for an outfit you have already been given costs nothing, however many times you come back to it, and refining one you are still working on is free as well.
Ornelle Premium removes the counts — as many outfits, events, and scores as you have occasions — and keeps a deeper lookbook. It is $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year. There is no free trial that quietly becomes a subscription, and no weekly plan.
Privacy
Ornelle has no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of its own. Your answers, your saved events, your scores, and your lookbook live on your device and go when the app is deleted.
The one thing that leaves is a weather request. With your permission, your approximate location — kilometre accuracy, which is all a forecast needs — is sent to Apple's WeatherKit to fetch conditions for the day you are dressing for. Refuse the permission and the app asks you for the weather instead; nothing else changes.
