DiskSweep for macOS
Privacy Policy
Last updated 8 August 2026
DiskSweep is a macOS storage analyzer and cleanup utility. It is designed to work entirely on your Mac. DiskSweep does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information.
What DiskSweep does not do
- It has no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind.
- It has no user accounts and never asks you to sign in.
- It does not upload your files, file names, folder paths, or storage figures anywhere.
- It does not contain third-party advertising or data-sharing SDKs.
- The developer receives no information about what is on your Mac.
What stays on your Mac
To do its job, DiskSweep reads file sizes, modification dates, and folder names in the locations you allow it to inspect. That information is used to display the scan results and is never sent off the device. DiskSweep also stores a small amount of data locally in standard macOS app preferences:
- Which folders you have granted access to, so you are not asked repeatedly.
- Whether the one free cleanup has been used.
- Your chosen scan profile and window layout.
This data lives inside DiskSweep's own application container and is removed when you delete the app.
Folder access
DiskSweep runs in Apple's App Sandbox. It can inspect your Downloads folder and any additional folders you explicitly choose from a system file picker. It has no access to anything else, and you can revoke any folder permission from inside the app at any time.
Purchases
DiskSweep Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payments, subscription management, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are handled entirely by Apple. DiskSweep asks Apple whether the current Apple Account holds a valid purchase and receives only a yes-or-no answer. The developer never sees your name, email address, payment details, or Apple Account information.
Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
Children
DiskSweep is a general-purpose utility, is not directed at children, and collects no data from anyone.
