DiskSweep shows you where your disk space actually went, then helps you reclaim it without guessing. It explains every item before anything is removed: how large it is, what created it, whether it rebuilds itself, and exactly what will happen if you clean it.
It is built for two kinds of people. Everyday Mac users who want their Downloads folder under control, and developers whose disks quietly fill with build artifacts, simulator runtimes, container storage, and package caches.
Nothing is deleted without confirmation, and nothing leaves your Mac.

Safety
Every item is explained
Items are labelled by what removing them costs you: safe, rebuilds itself, personal file, or application state. Personal files are never selected for you, and protected locations are never offered at all.
Control
Trash or delete, your choice
Every cleanup asks first, and lets you choose per run: move items to the Trash so they stay recoverable, or delete them permanently to reclaim the space immediately.

Privacy
Nothing leaves your Mac.
No accounts
No analytics
No tracking
DiskSweep has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no user accounts. It never uploads your files, file names, folder paths, or storage figures anywhere. The developer receives no information about what is on your Mac.
It runs inside Apple's App Sandbox and can only inspect your Downloads folder plus folders you explicitly choose. Every permission can be revoked from inside the app.
