Sameish for iOS

Privacy Policy

Last updated August 2026

Introduction

Sameish finds duplicate and look-alike photos, videos, and files on your device so you can clear the copies you do not need. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.

What we collect

Nothing. Sameish has no servers, no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. We do not collect, receive, or store any information about you, your device, or your files.

Your photos, videos, and files

Scanning happens entirely on your device. Photos, videos, and documents are read in order to compare them with one another, and are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared. We never see them.

Items stored only in iCloud and not present on the device are skipped rather than downloaded. The app reports how many were skipped so you know that part of your library was not compared. No network request is ever made on your behalf to fetch them.

Files outside the photo library are only ever visible to the app if you hand it a folder through the system file picker. It cannot see anything you have not chosen, and removing a folder revokes that access.

What is stored on your device

To avoid repeating work, Sameish keeps fingerprints of what it has already scanned — a checksum for each file, and for photos a numeric representation of how the image looks. These cannot be turned back into your photos. It also stores your most recent scan results and your settings.

All of it lives in the app's own private storage on your device and is removed when you delete the app.

Advertising and tracking

There is none. Sameish contains no advertising SDK, no third-party analytics, and no tracking of any kind. It does not ask for permission to track you across apps because it has nothing to track you with.

Data sharing

Nothing is shared, because nothing is collected. There are no third parties involved in the app's operation apart from Apple, which handles purchases as described below.

Deleting your files

Nothing is ever deleted without your explicit confirmation. Photos and videos are removed through Apple's own system, which shows its own confirmation and places them in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Files chosen from a granted folder are removed immediately and permanently, with no recovery — the app states this clearly before you confirm.

Purchases

Sameish Premium is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payment, billing, and any refunds are handled entirely by Apple. The app asks Apple whether the current Apple Account holds a valid purchase and receives only a yes-or-no answer. We never see your name, email address, payment details, or Apple Account information.

Data security

Because no data ever leaves your device, there is nothing in transit to intercept and no server holding your information. Data stored by the app is protected by iOS application sandboxing and your device passcode.

Children's privacy

Sameish is suitable for users of all ages. It collects no information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Your files remain on your device and under your control at all times. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or delete on request. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes it will be updated here, with the date at the top revised. Any change that introduces data collection would be described plainly rather than folded into unrelated wording.
